BINGHAM — Jennifer Hovey of Bingham, a senior at Upper Kennebec Valley Memorial High School, was recently selected to receive the 2012 MPA Principal’s Award. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principal’s Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and school citizenship.

As senior class valedictorian, Hovey is an active member of Valley High School by participating in student council, drama, class officer and is a tri-sport athlete. She has also been an active member of the National Honor Society.

Hovey and other award winners and their principals will attend the honors luncheon at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor.

The luncheon recognizes the students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler. McGowan and Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the association.

Hovey plans to attend University of Maine, Orono, and will major in kinesiology. She is the daughter of Timothy Hovey and Susan Hovey of Bingham.
