VASSALBORO — Jake Suga of Vassalboro was recently named a semifinalist in the 2012 Maine Geographic Bee set for Friday, March 30, at the University of Maine at Farmington.
He advanced to the semifinals by winning the school-level geography bee at the Vassalboro Community School and placing in the top 100 of the qualifying test.
Suga is the son of Patty and Dana Suga of Vassalboro.
The state winner will win a trip to Washington, D.C. to represent Maine at the National Geographic Society headquarters, May 22-24, and other prizes.
