SOUTH CHINA — South China Community Church Sunday service will begin at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Paul Harwath, the new pastor, will be there to greet people.

Harwath is from Illinois, though was most recently pastor in South Dakota. He and his wife, Karen, have six children. Harwath is a graduate of the Wartburg Seminary and received his masters of theology in 1996.

Lenten retreat set at

Notre Dame Church

WATERVILLE — The Rev. Bob Vaillancourt recently announced there will be a Lenten retreat at Notre Dame Church, 70 Pleasant St.

The following events are planned:

* Taize evening prayer with eucharistic adoration, 6:30-8 p.m. Sunday.

* On the eucharist with a teaching Mass, 6:30-8 p.m. Monday.

* On the sacrament of penance, 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday (followed by a short mass and confessions).

Music and worship set for March 24

NEW PORTLAND — Joel and Janna, brother-sister duo of Livermore Falls, will perform Saturday, March 24, at Western Mountains Baptist Church. This will be a free evening of music and worship songs. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7 p.m. WMBC Youth Group will sponsor and host the event.

The concert is one piece of the WMBC Youth Weekend, where the teens and young adults of the church will be exercising their leadership skills by taking on all the responsibilities of providing a place for Sunday morning worship.

The Youth Group meets from 6 to 8 p.m. at Western Mountains Baptist Church Thursday evenings. Parents are always welcomed and encouraged to attend.
