WINSLOW — The Maine Warden Service has named a 28-year veteran as its warden of the year.
Dave Georgia Jr. of Milford was recognized as the 2011 Warden of the Year at the Maine Warden Service’s recognition banquet in Winslow this week.
Georgia has been with the warden service since 1983.
Georgia goes by the nickname “the coyote” for his relentless pursuit of poachers.
The warden service says Georgia once nabbed 32 people hunting illegally at night in one year. In one five-year stretch, he apprehended 100 night hunters.
