HOULTON — The Maine man charged in the stabbing deaths of a 10-year-old boy, the boy’s father and a family friend told police that he didn’t know the victims, and that he’d moved away for work.

The audiotape was played today in the murder trial of Thayne Ormsby, who’s charged in the June 2010 killings in Amity in northern Maine.

Interviewed in New Hampshire, Ormsby told police that the daughter of the couple he’d been staying with in Maine believed drug dealers or a biker gang might be responsible. The Bangor Daily News says he gave DNA and fingerprints that linked him to the crime.

Ormsby, who’s using an insanity defense, is charged in the killings of Jeffrey Ryan, his son, Jesse, and a family friend, Jason Dehahn.
