BRUNSWICK — A Brunswick man has been sentenced to serve 18 years in prison for sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13.

Lester Ambrose Jr. was sentenced Thursday to 30 years in prison, with 18 to serve and the remainder under supervised probation. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life upon release and barred from any contact with anyone under age 18

Police arrested the 41-year-old Ambrose in September and charged him with gross sexual assault for incidents that took place between October 2006 and December 2010.

Ambrose originally pleaded not guilty to the charges, but on March 21 he changed his plea to guilty.

The Times Record reports that Ambrose apologized in court.
