HAMPTON, N.H. — Maine’s law enforcement officers are gathering to pay their respects to a police chief who was shot to death in the southern New Hampshire town of Greenland.

Dozens of local police, state police, sheriff’s deputies and game wardens met today in Scarborough before traveling south to New Hampshire.

Greenland Chief Michael Maloney was shot to death as he and other officers were trying to serve a warrant at a Greenland home. Four other officers were injured.

Today’s service is being held at a high school athletic field in Hampton, N.H. Maine’s state police chief and his three top officers participated in Wednesday’s wake.
