AUGUSTA — Police on Monday released video surveillance photos as they continued to search for a man who robbed a North Belfast Avenue pharmacy Friday.

Augusta Police Detective Sgt. Matthew Clark said Monday that no one had been charged in connection with the robbery, which occurred around 4:30 p.m. at the Rite Aid at 2007 North Belfast Ave.

“We are still conducting follow-ups on leads, but have no suspects to name thus far,” Clark said.

None of the released images, all of which were of poor quality, show the robber’s face. The images appear to show the man wore a black hooded sweatshirt, dark blue pants and light-colored footwear.

The robber was described as a thin white man, about 5 feet, 7 inches tall with brown hair and blue eyes.

Police have declined to say what, if anything, the robber took from the store or whether a weapon was involved.

Officers arrived within two minutes of the first report and surrounded the area. A police tracking dog was unable to find the robber, whom police believe left in a vehicle.

It was the second time in three months the Rite Aid store has been targeted. The first incident occurred Feb. 20 when two young men demanded prescription medication and said they had a weapon.

Carmine A. Fazzi, 19, of Augusta, has been charged with two counts of robbery in connection with the Feb. 20 holdup and a robbery a week earlier at a CVS on Stone Street. Fazzi, who was arrested in New York on an unrelated charge and recently extradited to Maine, made his first appearance Monday in Kennebec County Superior Court.
