STOCKTON SPRINGS — Police in Maine are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who sexually assaulted a 61-year-old woman at her home.

Officials say the suspect rang the doorbell at the victim’s Stockton Springs home late Monday afternoon, claiming he once lived there and had left something under the back porch. The woman told police she brought him to the back of the building, where she was assaulted.

Chief Deputy Jeff Trafton of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Department said the suspect is described as being 35 to 45 years old and 6 feet tall, with dark hair and hazel eyes.

The victim told investigators the attacker had a prominent anchor-shaped scar on the right side of his face and may have had tattoos on his fingers spelling the world “hate.”
