MONMOUTH — Reen Kahl pitched a one-hitter and scored the winning run to lead Monmouth to a 1-0 victory against Madison on Friday in a batle of Mountain Valley Coinferebnce unbeatens.

Kahl struck out 11 and didn’t walk a batter and the only hit she gave up was a single to to Madison pitch Kayla Belanger in the second inning. The Mustangs scored in the bottom of the seventh when Kahl opened the inning with a double and Kylie Kemp singled. The Bulldogs walked the next batter to load the bases and Kahl scored on a wild pitch.

Kemp had a single and double for Monmouth (8-0). Madison is 8-1.

Messalonskee 22, Brunswick 2: Kylee Knight had a home run, three singles and three RBIs as the Eagles pounded out 23 hits in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A win shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule in Brunswick.

Bri Garland added a double, five singles and two RBIs for Messalonskee (8-1) while Emily York had a triple, a double, a single and four RBIs. Courtney Veilleux added a double, two singles and three RBIs while Jordan Roy chipped in with three singles and Holly Wentworth two singles.

Mel Bryant and Julia Carpenter each singled for Brunswick (1-8).

MCI 10, Morse 2: Courtney Fowler had a triple, two singles and two RBIs to lead the Huskies to the KVAC B win in Pittsfield. Fowler also earned the win to up her record to 4-1.

Katelyn Sousa added a double, two singles and two RBIs for MCI (4-5).

Morse falls to 1-7.

Cony 18, Mt. Blue 0; 5 innings: Arika Brochu allowed no hits and struck out five, and helped her own cause by smacking three doubles as the Rams defeated the Cougars in KVAC A action in Augusta.

Sonja Morse added a home run and a double for Cony (9-0), while Nicole Rugan had two triples.

Mt. Blue falls to 1-8.

Erskine 9, Skowhegan 4: Mikhalea Helm had two singles and four RBIs to lead the visiting Eagles to the KVAC A win.

Alison Gaubin added a triple, a single and an RBI for Erskine (8-2) while Meryl Bond had a double and a single and Hannah Peabody and Avery Bond had two singles and an RBI each.

Kaitlyn Therriault had three singles and two RBIs for Skowhegan (5-5).

Hall-Dale 12, Carrabec 1: Carylanne Wolfington had a two-run home run, three singles and scored three runs to lead the Bulldogs to the MVC win in North Anson.

Laura Allen earned the win for Hall-Dale (5-3), allowing four hits while striking out eight.

Brooklynne Lewis, Macy Andrews-Welch, Skyla Murray and Kilee Nile each singled for Carrabec (0-6). Ashlee Knight took the loss, allowing eight hits while striking out nine.

Camden Hills 10, Waterville 9, 9 innings: Taylor Palmer was hit by a pitch and scored on a single by Amy Haynes in the top of the ninth as the Windjammers beat the Panthers in a KVAC B game in Waterville.

Allie Forkey had two doubles and a triple for Waterville (4-6).

Sarah Steele homered and Natalie Hamalainen had a double for Camden Hills (3-5).

Nokomis 8, Maranacook 3: Sarah Packard struck out 10, and Drew Graves drove in three runs to lead the Warriors to a KVAC B win in Newport.

Becca Boyce had two hits, including a double, and drove in a run for Nokomis (7-2). Becky Orcutt had two hits for the Warriors.

Kaitlyn Chick had a double, two singles, and drove in a run for Maranacook. Elise Linton had three singles for the Black Bears.

Winslow 9, Lincoln 4: Megan Richards struck out 11 and added a triple and two RBIs to lead the host Black Raiders to the KVAC B win. Jess Pare added three singles and two RBIs for Winslow (6-3) while Jordyn Pomerleau had a triple, a single and an RBI.

Abby Farrin had a double and two singles for Lincoln (3-6).

Winthrop 9, Mt. Abram 3: Amy Belanger pitched a two-hitter and Alison Sekerak added two doubles and two RBIs to lead the host Ramblers to the MVC win.

Kat Ouellette added a double, a single and two RBIs for Winthrop (3-4).

Alex Howard had a two-run double for Mt. Abram (2-5).

Girls lacrosse

Mt. Ararat 9, Messalonskee 6: Haley Michaud had three goals and an assist to lead Mt. Ararat to the Class A win in Topsham.

Rowley Jones and Carly Raymond each scored twice for Mt. Ararat (4-2) while Cat Johnson and Hannah Hauser had one goal apiece. Bailey Sullivan made seven saves.

Sarah Grenier led Messalonskee (4-3) with three goals while Sidney Gagne added two goals and an assist. Kristy Bernatchez and Mara Balboni each scored a goal. Izzy Skinner stopped six shots.
