FARMINGTON — Franklin County Farmers’ markets are gearing up for the summer season. Area farmers will hold weekly outdoor markets in Farmington on Fridays and Saturdays through October. There will be Saturday markets in Phillips and New Sharon and a Wednesday market in Kingfield.

Franklin County has a year-round online farmers’ market, WesternMaineMarket.com, offering order pickup as far as Rangeley, Rumford and Stratton. It includes offerings from a wider selection of vendors than most single markets.

Saturday’s market in Farmington offers an event tent where the will be live music, free food samples, butter-making or grain-grinding demonstrations and Henna body painting.

Many vendors accept WIC farmers’ market vouchers, and Farmington’s Saturday market is set up to accept EBT and credit card payments.

The following market hours are set:

* Fridays through October, next to the Better Living Center in the Narrow Gauge Cinema lot on Front Street, the market hours are 9 a.m.-2 p.m. For more information, call Mitra Luick, Aloha Rainbow Farm, at 778-0347; or email mitraluick@gmail.com.
