I believe that a cemetery is one of the last sacred places that we have left, where loved ones can go and visit those they have lost. No one should ever be allowed to take from those who are defenseless. In a word, it is called having respect for the dead.
Someone stole two items — a deer silhouette and a bluejay wind chime — from my father’s grave in Cornville at Collins Cemetery. The thief or thieves once again broke a woman’s heart that had already been broken.
It’s pretty darn sad when someone thinks it’s fun to steal from the dead. They can’t have many feelings if they can do something like that. I know that the economy is bad, but how can someone steal off a grave, steal from those who cannot defend themselves?
