WATERVILLE — Business and Professional Women/Waterville will celebrate its 90th anniversary Thursday, June 21.

Anna M. Drummond and Helen D. Cole called an informal meeting at Library Hall to organize a Business and Professional Women’s organization March 20, 1922.

National, state and local organizations have worked on issues important working women and their families for more than 90 years. BPW promotes equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education and information.

The local organization is a member of Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce, REM, state and national BPW Foundation and the Maine Women’s Hall of Fame. They supply kids packs for the local district court; contribute to United Way; award five $300 scholarships and two $400 nursing scholarships.

Maxine Russakoff, PSP, BPW/ME will conduct the installation of officers, and the awarding of local BPW Scholarships.
