FAIRFIELD — A grand opening for a new outdoor community basketball court will be Saturday at 10 a.m. near the playground and Community Center on Water Street.
Fairfield Town Manager Josh Reny said the project was the vision of Lawrence “Timmy” Davis, a longtime Fairfield resident who died last year.
Davis was a member of VFW Memorial Post 6924 and American Legion Grover-Hinckley Post 14. Last year, the posts donated a combined $6,400 for the project, Reny said.
Reny said Davis’ daughter, Kim Hawkes, of Fairfield, championed the project and led the fundraising effort.
Community members are invited to attend the opening, Reny said.
