GREENVILLE, Maine– The Appalachian Mountain Club seeks teenagers age 15-18 to participate on volunteer trail crews this summer.

Programs will take place from July 30 to Aug. 8 and Aug. 13 to 22. Volunteers will help build and maintain a new trail system that is open for public use. The effort is part of AMC’s Maine Woods Initiative.

Work includes clearing brush, creating rock staircases, building bridges, repairing ski trails, painting blazes and other tasks. Each day’s work will conclude at a base camp near the shore of Long Pond.

The program fee of $495 or $450 for members includes instruction, equipment use, leadership, meals and campsite lodging. Some scholarships are available.
