WINSLOW — Two overnight burglaries caused significant damage to businesses but netted only $20 for the culprits.

The burglaries were reported to police Monday morning by the owners of Bee’s Snack Bar on Lithgow Street and The Lobster Trap Restaurant on Bay Street.

There are no suspects and it’s unclear whether the incidents are related to a string of April burglaries in Winslow and Waterville, or how many people are involved, said Detective Gina Henderson.

At Bee’s Snack Bar, the burglars forced open a door and stole the cash register, Henderson said. There was about $20 inside.

At The Lobster Trap, the burglars pried a window out of a door then forced open the cash drawer, but it was empty.

Henderson said police may have gotten fingerprints of the burglars from one of the scenes.

An estimate of the damage to both businesses isn’t available yet.

In April, Waterville police said they believed a spate of nighttime burglaries were related. The break-ins took place at Bolley’s Famous Franks, College Quik Stop, T&B’s Outback Tavern and Dunkin’ Donuts, and all four incidents shared similar circumstances — the burglars smashed through glass doors or windows and damaged cash registers for the cash locked inside. Police aren’t sure whether the same burglars were responsible for an April 22 break-in at Winslow Seafood on Bay Street in Winslow.
