PALMYRA — Paula Arias recently received the Sebasticook Valley Chamber Scholarship. Arias plans to attend Union University in Jackson, Tenn. to major in education mathematics. She was selected from 49 applicants for the annual $1,000 scholarship awarded to a Sebasticook Valley student attending MCI, Nokomis, Dexter Regional, Central or Bangor Christian.
Arias was a member of band, the jazz band, and the chorus and chamber choir her entire time at MCI. She participated in track and field, earning most improved player and was captain of the varsity soccer team, earning most valuable player her junior year.
She was also involved with the Future Problem Solvers team, the Key Club and the Student Council. She acted as secretary of her class for three years.
Arias is the daughter of Felipe and Bridgitte Arias of Pittsfield.
