A few years ago, I was impressed with the amount of advertising for Oil of Olay that appeared on television, claiming to make women beautiful.

I had never heard of Olay and wrote a letter to the editor what Olay was that supplied all that oil. I received no answer, but the ads stopped.

Now I again see a plethora of ads extolling the benefits of using Olay, not the oil, but the substance. I still do not know what Olay is. Is it animal, mineral or vegetable? Is it a liquid, solid or a gas?

Maybe it is the figment of the imagination of an advertising denizen working out of Madison Avenue, trying to make a dollar in these difficult times.

Whatever it is, Olay may be the salvation of womanhood as we know it.
