I was dismayed to see a recent letter containing false information regarding the district attorney’s race.

The letter was incorrect to state that one of the candidates has never tried a case in Maine; maybe the writer was misinformed.

Maeghan Maloney has tried hundreds of cases in Maine, in her role as assistant attorney general, in her private practice, and as an attorney at Verrill Dana. She also was deputy district attorney in Portland, Ore., while her husband was there in medical school.

As an effective prosecutor, she was promoted to head the multimillion-dollar forfeiture unit.

She chose to return to Maine to raise her family and continue work for this state. Voters should make their decision based on facts, not on lies and rumors. Maloney has more than 15 years of experience as an attorney and a proven ability to implement real solutions to the problems we face.
