WAYNE — The Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office is searching for whoever robbed a storage unit last month, police said in a news release Thursday.
The release said several storage units at BDM Properties were broken into around 11:30 p.m. on July 13. Thousands of dollars worth of items were stolen, including family heirlooms.
Surveillance cameras caught someone entering and leaving the grounds and video was provided to the sheriff’s office Thursday, according to sheriff’s Capt. Dan Davies. Two sedans and at least two people were involved in the robbery, he said.
“You can see one person going door to door trying to get in the doors, but you don’t see the cars in that video,” Davies said. “So we don’t know whether there were multiple people in each car.”
Davies said the video also showed two other cars passing the storage company as the cars in question pulled in.
“Somebody saw those cars pulling in there at 11:30 at night,” Davies said.
Davies said when the cars left, they took a left turn onto Route 133 and headed south toward Winthrop.
Police asked that anyone with information on the incident to call investigating deputy Jake Pierce at 623-3614.
