MOUNT VERNON –The 30 Mile River Watershed’s Youth Conservation Corps is available to help homeowners make improvements to their properties.

The group’s mission is to decrease erosion and filter stormwater carrying phosphorus. Workers provide free technical assistance and labor, while private landowners or towns pay for materials.

Homeowners who notice the following are encouraged to call: more grass than other vegetation in their yard; eroding shoreline; driveway or path goes downhill towards the lake; soil displacement under roof drip lines; spots of bare soil; or those who would like to know what they can do to improve water quality.

To arrange a site visit, call 670-7298 or email info@30mileriver.org.
