CLEVELAND (AP) — Boston Red Sox left-hander Felix Doubront will miss his next turn in the rotation and right-hander Aaron Cook will start Wednesday against Baltimore.

Boston manager Bobby Valentine said Doubront, 0-3 in four games since July 18, likely will miss one start. Valentine thinks the time off will help the 24-year-old left-hander, whose velocity has been down recently. Doubront has pitched 122 2-3 innings this season after totaling 35 1-3 in the majors during his first two seasons with Boston.

Doubront is 10-6 with a 4.70 ERA in 22 starts. Cook is 3-5 with a 4.70 ERA in nine starts.

The Boston Red Sox have signed veteran outfielder Scott Podsednik just over a week after trading him to Arizona.

Podsednik batted .387 with one home run and seven RBIs in 19 games for the Red Sox before being dealt to the Diamondbacks on July 31. He was released by Arizona after declining an assignment to Triple-A Reno.

Podsednik, who was batting ninth and playing left field Friday night at Cleveland, and right-hander Matt Albers were traded to Arizona for left-hander Craig Breslow, who is pitching in Boston’s bullpen.

To make room on the roster, outfielder Ryan Kalish was optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket. He batted .203 in 25 games.
