SOLON — A project planning meeting recently was held at New Hope Church with several contractors who will build the facility that will house the new Women’s Shelter.

At the meeting were Jeff Lloyd of Merle L. Lloyd & Sons. of Anson. who will do the earthwork’ Mike Thebarge Shelter board member’ Randy Goodwin of Goodwin Builders Inc. in Rangeley. who is the project coordinator’ Chuck Gibson master plumber. of Solon; Keith Ewing, engineer with Plymouth Engineering Inc., in Plymouth; Tristan Hotham, Larry Hotham and Dan Ellis, of Hotham Concrete, of Winslow; the Rev. Tim Hunt; and Stan Prior, builder-contractor and site manager. Also present was Rebecca Philpot, director of the shelter.

The shelter will house up to 40 homeless women. This project will cost approximately $200,000 and about one sixth of it has been raised so far, according to a news release. The organization is in the middle of a fundraising endeavor to raise money needed to complete the project.
