I am a Maine woman who always wants to think people in Maine are honest and would not take something from another person from right under their nose.

Well, tonight I learned that is not so, and that lesson makes me very sad.

My daughter and I did our first back-to-school shopping and her wallet was stolen while we were in a store in Augusta. Her wallet was clearly a child/teen’s bag, so the person who took it knew they were taking money from a child.

The money that was taken is not the only upsetting thing about this. I am appalled that people would watch a kid search high and low for her wallet and not regret what they did and make it magically appear.

People wonder what is wrong with this world, and I know the answer. It’s heartless, pathetic people who have no morals and cheat their way through this world.
