PITTSFIELD — The Pittsfield Public Library recently celebrated a successful 2012 Summer Reading Program with a Dream Big-Read Pajama Party. Participants heard bedtime stories, decorated pillowcases, and participated in a yoga class, led by Chris Faria. The party ended with ice-cream cones, donated by Bud’s Shop ‘N’ Save.

Children who participated by logging ten books they read received a gift bag containing a book and other treats.

Winners of the prize drawing for the final week of summer reading were: Reagan Lary, Sarah Strong, Alexia Brooks and Hannah Robinson. Story time resumes at 10:15 a.m. on Mondays in September.

The Library invites patrons to suggest a name for its new telescope. The telescope is an Orion StarBlast 4.5, and is available for patrons older than 18 to check out through the STAR Library Program.

The library is looking for a creative, catchy name. All suggestions will be considered. Deadline for submitting a name for the telescope is Friday, Aug. 31. The Friends of the Pittsfield Public Library donated a pass to the Maine Discovery Museum in Bangor for patrons to check out. The pass allows four people free admission to the museum. Two passes are also available for the Coastal Maine Botanical Garden.
