AUGUSTA — Maine residents are experiencing more pain at the pump.

Price-monitoring website MaineGasPrices.com reports Monday that the average retail cost of a gallon of gas in the state is up another four cents to an average of $3.83.

Maine prices are now 13 cents above the national average.

Current prices are more than 14 cents per gallon higher than they were at the same time last year and nearly 24 cents higher than a month ago.

A company analyst says price rises are slowing, and prices could start falling as refinery problems are resolved and the summer driving season comes to an end.
