LAWN CARE: Seven members of the American Legion Post 153 baseball team spent a sunny day giving back to the American Legion. They spent the day mowing, raking, bagging and cutting up small firewood for veteran Emmitt Stuart. The team wanted to show their appreciation for participating in the American Legion 2012 baseball season. They called the post to inquire on what could be done. Past Commander Hugh Brown suggested helping past Commander Emmitt Stuart who served as a commander for several terms and was instrumental in sending supplies to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Stuart has been a long-time member of the American Legion and the VFW and has strongly supported both veteran organizations, according to Brown. Community service has long been a requirement to graduate from certain high schools across the country and community service is always a winner for everyone involved, he said.
