WATERVILLE — Officer Alden Weigelt was recently promoted to patrol sergeant according to Chief Joseph Massey in a press release. Weigelt began his law enforcement career in 1997 when he was hired by the Oakland Police Department as a patrol officer. He holds an associate’s degree in criminal justice from University of Maine at Augusta and completed his training as a Maine Certified EMT in 1983. Sgt. Weigelt is also a certified instructor at the MCJA where he teaches police officers on cultural diversity issues.
Sgt. Weigelt is the only Maine Certified EMT in the patrol division and the department’s Crisis Negotiator. He is also a well-known author and recently published a book titled “Silent Maine Reminders.”
Sgt. Weigelt will start his duties the week of Aug. 26.
