* Open Mic Night: poetry, comedy, music and stories will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday at The Landing. The event is sponsored by UMF Center for Student Involvement. For more information, email kasper@maine.edu or call 778-7346.

* Comedy: Lawn Chair Pirates will take the stage at 9 p.m. Friday in Lincoln Auditorium, UMF Roberts Learning Center. Check out UMF’s incredibly funny premier improv comedy troupe. * Kickoff to Month of Service is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, at The Landing, UMF Olsen Student Center. For more than 14 years, new and returning students have joined faculty and staff in volunteering for a variety of community service projects in the Farmington area. Students can learn about and contribute to the Farmington community as well as build connections and new networks where they live.
