AUGUSTA — A city woman walked away shaken but unscathed Thursday after driving her car down an embankment while trying to park her car at the Western Avenue McDonald’s.

Augusta Police Lt. Christopher Massey said the crash occurred around 10 a.m., as the 65-year-old Augusta woman pulled her 2010 Ford Focus into a parking space at the fast food restaurant. Massey said the woman tried to stop, but instead pushed the accelerator and rolled down a steep embankment toward the Big Apple parking lot next door.

The car struck a tree before going into the parking lot, Massey said.

Augusta rescue responded but the woman was not taken to the hospital. The car was towed from the scene.
