I watched the Jimmy Fund Telethon on Aug. 21 and 22, which was trying to raise money for cancer research.

Children on the show had cancer, and it was sad to see them so sick, but a lot of them had successful stories, too. When the telethon ended, the Jimmy Fund successfully raised more than $3.2 million.

Then I got to thinking about all the money that is raised for the presidential election, which is billions of dollars. Wouldn’t it be something if that kind of money could be raised for cancer research and other diseases instead of being spent the election?

I know we all want our candidate to win, but then I thought, why not limit the amount that is raised? Do away with Super PACs, big money donors and special interest PACs that spend money for the candidates at all levels, and let them all have an even playing field.
