Teen boy summoned on threatening charge

WINSLOW — A 15-year-old boy was summoned Wednesday on a charge of criminal threatening at Winslow High School.

About 2:30 p.m., the boy, whom police wouldn’t identify due to his age, allegedly threatened to assault a teacher after he was reprimanded for using inappropriate language on school grounds, said Student Resource Officer Ron McGowen. Police are also withholding the name of the teacher.

Principal Doug Carville said the school is taking the incident seriously but wouldn’t discuss what, if any, disciplinary actions the school might take, citing privacy concerns.

Criminal threatening, a class D misdemeanor, is punishable by up to one year in jail and $2,000 in fines. The boy is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 13.
