PORTLAND — Ryan W. Pulver of Vassalboro has been selected as a member of the University of Southern Maine Pioneer Program Class of 2016.

The Pioneer Program, the state’s first collegiate honors program for students studying science, technology, engineering or math, launched last year with eight students, according to a news release from the University of Southern Maine Office of Public Affairs. Students accepted into Pioneers receive a full tuition scholarship for four years, paid internships and a notebook computer. They also have opportunities to work directly with faculty on research projects.

Pulver plans to major in mechanical engineering. He is a graduate of Erskine Academy.
