I just saw the movie “2016: Obama’s America.”

I thought it would be a lot of outrageous claims about death panels and Barack Obama being a Kenyan-born Muslim.

The claims, however, are just as false but a little more subtle.

The author, Dinesh D’Souza, is an evangelical Christian conservative and a prolific writer of books that disparage Americas positions on multiculturalism, affirmative action, equal opportunity, equal protection under the law and same-sex marriage, just to name a few.

The movie has the substance of a comic book.

D’Souza interviews far left-wing characters with whom Obama had a transient relationship, expounds on their ultra-left-wing political views and then infers that their views are also Obama’s views.

D’Souza makes the absurd claim that if Obama is re-elected the Muslims in the Middle East will join forces and become “The United States of the Middle East.”

The many factions of Islam, such as the Sunnis and Shias in Iraq, are not allies. Their religious, political and cultural beliefs are so different that the two factions gun each other down in the streets. Not a very solid foundation from which to develop a cohesive political entity that will spread across the entire Middle East.

One thing the movie is very truthful about is Obama’s ability to get members of Congress with divergent viewpoints to pass legislation that benefits all Americans.

Obama was able to open up military service to gays and lesbians, passed the Affordable Care Act, created more than 4.5 million private-sector jobs, saved the auto industry, doubled the funding of Pell grants, ended the war in Iraq and doubled the fuel efficiency of cars. All this all while facing severe opposition from Republicans whose sole goal is to make Obama a one-term president.
