BENTON — A free five-week series of parenting classes, Guiding Good Choices, is open to the community and will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Oct. 11 through Nov. 8, at Benton Elementary.

This is an evidence-based class for the parents/guardians of children ages 9-14 year olds. Topics will include: building family relationship and bonds, establishing and reinforcing clear and consistent guidelines and expectations for behavior, and teaching children skills to resist peer influence.

There will be free childcare on site and free dinner for participating families. Transportation stipends are available on an as needed basis. For participants who complete each of the five classes, there will be a drawing for one free Kindle.
