I am proud to support Democratic Rep. Paul Gilbert as a candidate for the Maine House District 87 in the November election.

Gilbert has served in Augusta for several years now, fighting for the people of his district.

In spite of Republican bills in the last session that cut funds for workers’ rights, health care, education and family planning, Gilbert stood up for working people, students, seniors and women, and helped to moderate cuts in programs for people with disabilities, Maine Public Broadcasting and the state police.

No representative could be more committed to the people he serves. Others limit contact with their districts to emails and leaflets. By contrast, Gilbert attends town events in Chesterville, Jay, Mercer, New Sharon and Starks throughout the year, getting to know his constituents and their concerns.

I encourage other voters in District 87 to support Gilbert on Nov. 6.
