I am a Democrat for Angus King.

I was impressed with his skills as governor and with his early promise to withdraw from the Senate race to prevent another candidate winning with a minority of votes, now much less of a concern given his lead.

His energy policy ideas and experience seem a healthy mix of pragmatism and hope.

His support for the Affordable Care Act reassures me; it is just beginning to improve health care for more people and must not be abandoned, but rather improved further, to address cost and efficacy more.

And I am intrigued by his proposal to end the Bush tax cuts with economic triggers as the economy improves. We may well need such a third way to escape the deadlock in Washington.

Such new thinking and advocacy is just what we need for Maine and the country to make progress for the common good.
