CONCORD, N.H. — New Hampshire prosecutors are again seeking more time to build their case against a hospital worker accused of stealing drugs and infecting patients with hepatitis C through contaminated syringes.
U.S. Attorney John Kacavas filed a motion Wednesday asking a judge to give him until Nov. 30 to indict David Kwiatkowski, who’s accused of infecting 32 patients at Exeter Hospital. Prosecutors say investigators are still conducting interviews and performing scientific analysis in multiple states.
Defense lawyers have agreed to the request, as they did to an earlier motion.
Kwiatkowski was hired in Exeter last year. Before that he worked as a traveling cardiac technologist in seven other states despite having been fired twice over allegations of drug use and theft. He has pleaded not guilty to stealing drugs and tampering with needles.
