AUGUSTA — Evelyn Trask of Chelsea has received the 2012 Excellence in Long Term Care Award from the Maine Long Term Care Ombudsman Program.

Trask has also been employed by a long-term care facility in Augusta for more than 26 years. She has also provided care to an Augusta resident for 23 years, without missing one day of work.

Trask was honored at a recent ceremony at the Blaine House which was also attended by first lady Ann LePage.

Lund to receive conservation award

BETHEL — Jon Lund of Hallowell has been named this year’s recipient of the Maine Wilderness Guides Organization’s conservation award.

Lund grew up in Augusta. The state’s first full-time attorney general, Lund later served as director of the Natural Resource Council of Maine and is presently a director on the Conservation Law Foundation’s Maine board. He is currently active in the Maine League of Conservation Voters, the Natural Resource Council of Maine and Maine Rivers.

The award recognizes a visionary leader who has made a positive impact in the conservation of Maine wilderness areas, wildlife, fisheries and forests. The award presentation will take place at the Maine Wilderness Guide’s annual meeting and banquet on Oct. 21 at the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Gorman Chairback Lodge.

Beach named employee of the year

AUGUSTA — Janet Beach was recently recognized by the Bonney Staffing Center as 2012 Employee of the Year during a workplace presentation.

Beach is an employee at the Augusta branch.
