Auditions for the Mid Maine Youth Orchestra 2012-13 season will be frm 3:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at Messalonskee Middle School, and from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, at Mount Blue Middle School.

Students must complete and return the audition application, which will be accepted until Friday, according to a news release.

The audition schedule will be mailed to all applicants the following week.

Students will perform approximately two minutes of a solo or etude that will demonstrate their ability and musicianship.

Sight reading is also included in the audition, which should last about eight minutes.

Students enrolled in seventh through 12th grades are eligible for membership, and must be in good standing in their school music program, band directors are required to sign students audition applications.

The season will culminate with two performances, the first concert will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, March 1, at Oakland’s Messalonskee Performing Arts Center. The second concert will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 3, at Farmington’s at Nordica Hall, UMF.
