UNITY — As part of a tour through Waldo County to host free “Probate Basics” presentations, Judge Susan W. Longley of Waldo County Probate Court will be at Unity’s CrossTrax Deli from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.

Though Judge Longley cannot provide legal advice at these presentations, she can help attendees better understand probate basics, according to a anews release. Based on her eight years as a judge and 20-plus years as a lawyer and a teacher of law courses, she can help attendees better understand such probate-related matter as powers of attorney (or “advance directives”), wills, guardianships, conservatorships, adoptions, name changes and wills and what families might consider doing to be better prepared. Also, to help all digest these procedural legalities, Judge Longley will provide refreshments and her home-made chocolate chip cookies.
