Republican Ryan Harmon was elected to represent the people of House District 45, but a look at his voting record tells me he is more interested in helping banks than the people of Maine.

In February, the Legislature considered L.D. 145, that would require banks to produce the original note as proof of ownership before they could foreclose.

The Maine Credit Union League supported L.D. 145; the Maine Bankers Association did not. Harmon supported the bankers and opposed the bill.

The House and Senate passed L.D. 145 by wide margins. In March, Gov. Paul LePage vetoed the bill. The House failed to override his veto. Harmon sided with the banks again.

Banks are now foreclosing on properties without having to show they have an original note.

Vote for Brian Jones, Democratic candidate in House District 45.
