WATERVILLE — United Way of Mid-Maine President Tina Chapman recently announced the organization has hired two staff members:

Stacy Saucier was named finance director and Fran Mullin as director of community transformation.

Saucier, a 1990 Waterville Senior High School graduate, has 16 years of financial experience, most recently with The Bank of Maine. She has also worked as the office manager for her husband’s construction company. Saucier has been involved in her community as a volunteer, some of which were with United Way of Mid-Maine partner agencies. She lives in Oakland with her husband, Eric, and their two daughters, Emily and Olivia.

Mullin was raised in Clifton Park, N.Y., and came to Maine during the summers. After she graduated from Colby College, she started her nonprofit career coordinating Somerset County Meals on Wheels. She then became the statewide director of education at the American Cancer Society, where she brought together women’s health advocates to start the Maine Breast Cancer Coalition and helped pass a law requiring insurance coverage for mammograms.

As director of education at the Family Planning Association of Maine, she expanded outreach to adolescents and mobilized a diverse coalition to pass a state law in support of family life education. Their efforts received national recognition for decreasing Maine’s teen pregnancy rate to the third lowest in the country. She went on to be executive director of the Children’s Center in Augusta and most recently was the executive director of WinterKids.

Since moving to Cornville last year, Mullin has been helping nonprofits in Somerset County work with businesses to build local capacity to improve health, education and economic development.

United Way of Mid-Maine is based in Waterville and serves northern Kennebec, Somerset and western Waldo counties. For more information, call 873-0686 or visit unitedwaymidme.org.
