GREENLAND, N.H. — A longtime weather observer in New Hampshire has been recognized by the National Weather Service.

Kenneth Fernald of Greenland was recently presented with a John Campanius Holm Award from the weather service office in Gray, Maine. The award is given out to 25 cooperative weather observers each year.

The Portsmouth Herald reports the weather service said Fernald’s dedication and quality observations of measuring the temperature, rainfall and snow depth from his home earned him the honor. Fernald takes weather observations each day.
