AUGUSTA — Heating oil prices are going up in Maine.

In a survey of oil dealers around the state, the Governor’s Energy Office said Tuesday the average cash price for home heating oil was $3.68 a gallon, up 9 cents a gallon from the previous oil survey in late August and 18 cents a gallon from the same week a year ago.

The lowest prices were in southern Maine, and the highest were in northern Maine.

Maine energy officials say heating oil prices are tracking the rising price of crude oil, which has escalated over the summer months.
