GARDINER — Nearly 90 people attended a bean supper Sept. 27 and contributed more than $800 to support the Food for Thought program in Regional School Unit 11.

The purpose of the program is to fill students’ backpacks with nutritional food for weekends and school vacations. The program was started about a year ago by the Gardiner Free Methodist Church and now serves approximately 40 students.

The supper was sponsored by the Gardiner, Randolph and Kennebec County Democratic Committees.
