RICHMOND—Police are looking for a pickup truck reportedly used to steal a load of firewood from a U.S. Route 201 homeowner Monday morning.

Officer Josh Staples said a homeowner spotted a couple men loading the cut and split firewood into a pickup truck around 7:45 a.m., right after her husband left for work. Staples said the men may have believed nobody was home because the family has just one vehicle.

The men fled when the woman scurried out of the house to confront them. Staples said the woman tripped and fell down the stairs, suffering a minor knee injury.

The victim said the back of the truck was sagging beneath the weight of the wood. She estimated the men took at least two wheelbarrow’s worth of wood.

Staples said the black truck was a Chevrolet S-10 or Ford Ranger. Staples said the home is not visible to any neighbors.

Staples asked anyone with information to call him at the Richmond Police Department at 737-8518.
