The use of fireworks in Fairfield is an important issue and one that must be handled with sensitivity to the spirit of freedom behind the new state law and the legitimate noise and safety concerns posed by the use of fireworks in town.

The town council likely will revisit the fireworks issue. As a candidate for council, I hope to be an active participant in that conversation. Fairfield is a collection of historically distinct communities that requires nuanced solutions to problems. I beleive the town’s new ordinance places unnecessary restrictions on rural Fairfield.

Rural Fairfield has responsibly enjoyed the rights to farm, hunt and use fireworks without harming urban Fairfield. Residents there should be allowed to continue to do so.

I will propose solutions that respect the differences between town and country, and further safety and freedom.
