If we throw away the Ds, Rs and Is that follow each name, the choice is clear which candidate is the most qualified to represent the people of Maine.

Only independent Angus King’s main motivation is not to be elected, but to govern. For him, winning this election wouldn’t be a “career maker.” He isn’t looking for connections; he’s looking to improve the prospects for our state and country.

King already has earned his money. He’s already had a positive impact in the public sphere as governor. Yet he has pulled himself out of a well-earned retirement, full of family and free time, because of his desire to serve us. That’s the kind of man I want representing me and my state.

Maine has a chance to lead the country in easing the crippling strain of congressional gridlock.

Let’s show the rest of the country that we can lead.
