I was saddened, but not surprised, to read of former Gov. John Baldacci’s declaration with the same-sex marriage side (Oct. 11), although we all knew where he stood when he signed the same-sex marriage bill.

In the beginning, God took a rib from Adam and made Eve. He then brought her to Adam. Then God said, in Genesis 1:28, “go forth and multiply.” By God’s design, every child has a father and mother, a one man-one woman marriage (Genesis 2:22). Jesus reiterated this in Mark 10, saying “a man (shall) leave his father and mother and cleave to his wife; and the twain shall be one flesh.”

God took woman from man in the beginning and in marriage he put them back together as one. This happens wherever a woman and man are joined in marriage. This couldn’t be done in a same-sex marriage.

Baldacci and these other deniers of the Bible, who call themselves Catholics or Christians, may go through the rituals of their so-called faith but the difference is between believer and non-believer.

Even Judas appeared to be a believer. He followed Jesus for three years. He ate with Jesus, shared his ministry and even did miracles. In the end, Judas traded the forever riches of God’s glory for 30 pieces of silver. What a waste. Judas went through the motions but was never saved.

Baldacci and the rest seem to be doing the same thing for man’s political favor. Moses drew a line in the sand and said, “Who is on the Lord’s side?” I urge others to join me and vote no on Question 1.
